How Did You Paint That?

It's not paint. It's vinyl! Vehicle wraps are made by printing special vinyl and applying that printed image to the surface of a vehicle. It's much like a huge bumper sticker that covers the entire surface. This method is much more versitile that painting because it is not permanent and can be removed from the vehicle.

Will it damage my vehicle?

No, in most cases a properly prepared and installed wrap will not damage a vehicle. The manufacturer of the vinyl states that it can be cleanly removed from the surface for up to five years. We have installed many wraps and removed them years later to reveal a nearly new looking paint surface. However, due to the many varying conditions vehicles endure, especially in the southern United States we do not warranty vehicles against damage to paint or surfaces.

How do you do it?

There are many steps to achieve a wrapped vehicle. Although it would take a book to explain all the steps involved the basic steps are:

First- We use a computer design program such as Adobe Photoshop® to design a few proofs of the vehicle design based on our consultation with the client. From there we narrow down the design and agree on a final proof. Final Artwork is prepared for all panels of the vehicle and double checked for correct sizing.

Second- We print our art, scaled to the correct size for the vehicle using a specialized RIP software and a large format 54" printer.

Third- All prints are laminated with a compatible sheet laminate for the ultimate in abrasion and ultraviolet ray protection.

Fourth- Extranious parts are removed from the vehicle to allow a better and more professional application. The prints are layed out on the vehicle and positioned correctly then the vinyl is carefully applied to the surface by our professional vehicle wrapping team. It is trimmed, sealed and heated to assure maximum adhesion. The parts removed from the vehicle are replaced and your wrap is complete.

Can I Design my wrap?

We don't know. If you are a graphic designer familiar with photoshop, illustrator or other professional design software then chances are you can design your own wrap. Call us for the art guidelines and we will gladly give you our recommendations. If you are really good at Microsoft Publisher or Paint, forget about it. These programs do not produce quality images of the caliber we need for a vehicle wrap. However, we can review any designs you have and reproduce a comparable design. There will be a charge associated with reproduction but it may not be as expensive as a full design fee.

Will you produce a wrap from someone else's design?

Yes, If you have an artist on staff the above statement applies as well. Please have your artist call us prior to submitting any art so we can give them the proper guidelines.

Do you do boat wraps?

Yes, boat wraps are a specialized wrap that we are experienced in providing.

What does it cost?

There are several different types of wraps so cost depends on choices you make. How long are you planning on keeping the wrap on the vehicle? How much of the vehicle do you want wrapped? Is the vehicle flat sided or does it have complex curves? Based on prior work we can tell you that a regular passenger vehicle wrap can cost between $1800 and $5000. When you consider that the average wrap life is five years the costs are nominal.

If you would like a precise estimate on a particular vehicle contact us with the vehicle year, make, model, number of doors, bed length and any optional body areas (such as camper shells). We also would like digital photos of the vehicle from front, back and both sides. (straight on) We will prepare an estimate on that vehicle for you.
